Plants you can eat

 Onions are easy to grow
Beans just want a little water.
Plant some tomato's and water, you may need to add some fertilizer.
Put a fake snake in your fig tree, it might keep the birds away.

Lavender , what more can I say about it.

 More fig trees.

My Son-in-law broughty flowers to my daughter

My son-in-law brought my daughter flowers.

He is always so kind when they come to visit me.
He changes any light bulbs that are out and changes the battery in the fire alarm and I don't even ask him.
He shows that he loves and respects my daughter.

Garlic and Cream Cheese Squash blossoms

Last night I fixed fried squash blossoms stuffed with cream cheese and garlic.  This was my first attempt at cooking them.  My family and I were surprised and how good they were.  I would like to tell everyone that if you haven't tried them you are missing something delicious.

Eating squash blossoms

Today I took some time to look up some squash blossom recipes.  They look good especially the Mexican recipes.  It is good to find that those blossoms don't need to go to waist while waiting for the female blossoms.

How to tell the difference between male and female squash blossoms.

Male Squash Blossoms or Female Squash Blossoms

The difference between male and female squash blossoms are determined at the base of the blossom.  Female squash blossoms have a fruit at the bottom and the blossom is usually at the center of the plant.  At the base of the flower there will be a small green fruit where the flower joins the stem when you see it you know it is a female blossom. If pollinated this small fruit will become a squash. Male squash blossoms bloom first and are on the outer part of the plant.  They are usually on long thin stems.  The mail blossoms are the blossoms that are good to eat.

How do you prevent squash flowers from falling off?

My squash plants get a lot of flowers but they fall off.  At first it looked like someone had gone out and cut the flower's off and let them fall to the ground.  This is the third year I have planted squash and the flowers fall off every year.  If you have an idea please let me know.
