Panama City Beach, Florida video

Day in the sand.

Yes this is Panama City Beach, Florida.  It is a wonderful December day in the sun.  The sand is clean and the water is clear yet cold.  The temperature is about 70 degrees but there is a wind chill.

It is times like this I love living in Florida.

Is this plant or animal?

They were up and down the beach.  We didn't know if they were worms, plant life, or what.

Cake on a stick for Christmas

First you bake the cake according to the directions on the box.  After the cake cools you crumble it up.  Next add about half a container of frosting.  Mix well then role into balls and refrigerate over night.  The next day melt the candy coating stick the stick in the candy then stick into the lollipop size cake ball.  Roll the cake in the candy to coat then sprinkle and stick into a container to dry.
As you can see we had a problem with the cake falling apart.

Good luck.  This was fun but a little upsetting after a while.  We didn't like the taste.

In the Car for Christmas

I will head to my son's home for Christmas and get in the car to come home on Christmas day.  The drive is well worth it.  There is nothing I would rather do on Christmas than spend it with my kids and grand kids.  I cant wait to put my arms around them and tell them face to face that I love them.

Visiting Santa

My Daughter-in-law came to visit and brought my grandson.  I took him to Pear-Park to see Santa and ride the train.  We had a blast.  When he saw Santa he let go of my hand and ran up to Santa with his hands in the air yelling Santa, Santa, Santa!  We got out picture with Santa then went to enjoy a Cinnamon bun and juice.  On the train ride my grandson waved  and yelled Ha, to everyone.  When the ride was over the man running the ride said he had never had a child so enthusiastic and that he even had fun on this trip.  After a few hours of shopping we ate lunch and went to join his mother.  I live for day's like this one.

It is back

The desire is back to start quilting again.  It didn't go away but I just didn't have the energy.  I pulled out an old jacket and realized how worn it is.  I believe I can quilt over it and make it look like new.  Quilting over an old jacket could make it warmer and give it a new look.
Time will be a problem but if I work ten minutes a night I may finish it by next November.  I am ready to start again.  I also realize that I never published the picture of the sleep cap I did last year.  One more project to finish.

Celebrating Thanksgiving in Gainesville, FL

Thanksgiving was wonderful this year.  I spent it with my children and extended family.  My son-in-law's brother brought his girlfriend who is a vegan.  She was sweet and brought a wonderful squash side dish.  I was happy that we didn't go shopping the next day.  I know you can save a lot but I don't like the crowd.  God has given me a lot to be thankful for this year.

Who can't get a job?

It is going to be good to have two days off from work.  I was watching the news and it made me mad all the people that are living on us working people.  I have never had a large income but I was able to support myself and my two children by working two jobs.  The children didn't have all the popular toys and clothing but we had love and fun.  Instead of going to a movie we went for a bike ride or the library.  Yes our clothing came from thrift shops or family hand-me-downs.  No my X was not the type to pay child support.
We made it by being thrifty, doing without, and working hard as a family.
I am proud of my children and they are successful, hard working adults with excellent morals.
Hard work is good for you.
To those that want a handout get off it and get a job.  It will do you good.

Was it a scam

I called my local property tax office because I didn't receive my tax bill and you won't believe what they did!  They mailed my tax bill to a stranger.  The person didn't even have a  name that started with the same first letter.  At first they blamed it on the Post Office but hours later and after talking to seven different people they said they made a mistake.
I wonder if it was a mistake or did someone do this to help with some sort of fraud?
I hope it is all cleared up now.

Stay Busy

I am so busy but I love it.  I am enjoying my job's.  I did spend the last few week's sick but I am better now.  Today I am off until later this evening so I am taking the time to accomplish all those task that I have let go.  First I got the oil changed in my car, then I went to pay my property tax.
The tax office had sent my bill to some other person in some other state.  After paying my property tax and insuring they had the proper address I decided to relax and play on the computer.

Enjoying my second job

I like my new part time job.  It is good to have an easy job after working all day on my first job.  The problem is I only get ten to fifteen hours of low wage work.  I will still look for something with more hours.

Volunteer or work for money

The public library is looking for people to help teach people how to speak English and how to read.  This would give me experience helping people how to speak English.   I can get a second job another day.

Obama are you happy?

It is so hot.  I have evacuated to the city library for cool air.  At this point it cost a lot to run the window air in my home so I have decided to turn it off during the day and visit the library.  I can turn it on again when I go home and only cool the room I will sleep in.  With books and a TV I can survive in one room.  I have already disconnected my telephone and Internet so that will also save me a lot.  Well Obama are you happy what will a poor working grandmother need to do next,"live on the street"?

Packed up

My sewing machine is in it's box.  I have packed up all my fabric and sewing equipment for the trip home.  I don't know how long it will be before I will have time to get everything set up again.
Everyone out there enjoy your life and I will be back when and if I can.

Hand Bag

They turned out better than I believed they would.
This one below we inserted a couple of ribbons to hook keys and a cell phone in.
This one has a long shoulder strap.

I cut the pattern but got sidetrackedby Fort Caroline

http://panamacitygrandma.blogspot.com/Nature was calling my name today.  As I cut out the pattern I decided to take time to get outside.  I drove to Fort Caroline and enjoyed a nature walk.

I had to record the sound's of nature, I hope you enjoy them.

The history in this place is wonderful.  There is everything from the French and Spanish fighting to religious persicution.  The Native Americans were the support that made this possible.
To think that in the 1500's France wanted some of the riches that Spain had gotten from trade.
La Caroline was the first permanent claim in North America that France attempted.  This commercial venture  along with religious conflict  led Admiral Gaspard de Coligny to propose the the crown  to make this a Huguenots colony.

As you can see I also enjoyed the wildlife.

The Spanish pond was across the street from Fort Caroline.

Skirt on the way to the Women's Shelter

Before I started a new project I had to finish one that I started about a year ago.  It was all done except the hem.  I don't know why I put it away without finishing it.  When I talked to my daughter she said because she had gone to New Zealand and when she came home it didn't fit anymore.  She is now a size two.
Now I suppose it will go to the local Women's Shelter.
